Kevin’s Seven

Kevin McKinney’s is desperate to fix the mess he made of his life.  His wife has taken his children and moved away.  Once a loving husband and father, his one regrettable choice hurt everyone he loved, and cost him his career. 

So what better way to be relevant again than to begin prepping to save them from the zombie apocalypse?  A worldwide catastrophe could make him a hero in his four children’s eyes.  His foresight would gain them someplace safe to run to.  If only the world would hurry up and melt down, his family could return to the way it was always meant to be – with all of them together. 

Kevin’s two best friends are torn between steering him away from his preparations for the end of days, and just letting him be unrealistic but cheerful again.   A chance encounter with his childhood sweetheart makes him wonder if she would be proud of his new course of action, or laugh in his face?  And how can he tell his kids all he’s achieving for them without them having nightmares about zombies and the end of the world?

But worst of all, plaguing his own nightmares these days are the menacinging packages being delivered when he’s not home. With each one, repressed memories begin flooding to the surface about that night six years ago. What he thought would be a relief to remember of the missing hours, he now wishes he could forget forever.
